An nice little update from yesterday… today the boys are off to Ghent for a quality coffee and to visit a famous old bike shop, but yesterday a lucky turn turned out for the best:

Normally I wouldn’t of thought to write something on just a bike shop, however the BMC concept store and service course for the team is so extraordinary it just had to be shared. About 25km down the schelde from Oudenaarde towards Ghent there is a small back road leading onto the N60. After a dash across the N60 avoiding the trucks… we ran into a BMC team car and decided it to follow it down a turnoff we weren’t planning to take.

I wonder how many buses BMC has… there must be at least one at the Tour… here's another… no wonder Richie is going there!

After following it to it’s destination we found ourselves at the BMC service course with the team bus there to great us. Hundreds of frames, wheels, shoes, helmets and everything else a team could need. It was like heaven for a few young racers. Eventually we made our way around to the store and boy was it impressive! The biggest bike shop I’ve ever seen!

The bike shop was so big you could almost build a velodrome in there!

The store is in a huge open plan building that is completely surrounded by glass to let in as much light as possible. Also containing a museum featuring bikes such as Cadel Evans world champion bike; bikes that have won worlds, nationals and grand tours.

Does this bike look familiar? Cadel's World Champion winning bike… or is it Gilbert's bike?

As we approached the display a shop worker came over to offer us complimentary refreshments or coffee as well as talk us through all the bikes, the service course and some upcoming models and technology BMC has on the go. What other bike shop offers that (aside from Total Rush in Melbourne of course…).

I wonder how many dollars worth of bikes and cycling equipment is under this one roof? Certainly hundred's of thousands! Heaven...

In the store was every BMC model, as well as all the products Team BMC use; from seats to shoes to nutrition products.  A few of us bought some things and I’m very much looking forward to returning there with Mitch to pick up some glasses that he ordered.  A must visit for any cycling fan in Belgium.

Thanks for reading for the feedback… stay tuned for more…
